We see a team of 14 dancers make their way to the stage. All are wearing a mixture of black and pink and all are holding pink fans, something very Japanese about it. We then see Bao Han walk in front of the screen. She is dressed in a short white Chinese dress with a navy blue bow to the right side. If you look closely, you will notice that the fabric of the bow is the same fabric design from when she performed this song back in PBN 34. At the back of all the performances, you will be seeing the original footage of these songs. “Mot Kiep Phong Ba” definitely marks a milestone in Bao Han’s singing career and it was nice to hear it again tonight. The dancers now make a straight line across the stage and reveal Luong Tung Quang in a gold sequin jacket singing his signature piece, “Lam Sao Quen Duoc Em.” Most will remember the “double image” performance of this song when he performed it on PBN 69. Now coming down center stage is Ho Le Thu in a beautiful short silver dress singing a song which she wrote the lyrics to “Em Van Tin.” This song became an immediate “top hits” after she performed it in PBN 89 in Korea. Bao Han and Luong Tung Quang now join Ho Le Thu as they sing the chorus of “Mot Kiep Phong Ba” together.

Walking from stage right, we see Trinh Lam in black pants/white shirt/ and red tie singing the song that he is most known for “Tai Sao?” It’s been a little over 2 years and right on this very stage that that song helped him win the Judge’s choice of the PBN Talent Shows. Dressed in white pants, and a sparkling top, we see Quynh Vi appear in Tran Duc’s “Tinh Chap Nhan” which she performed on PBN 89. Emerging next is Duong Trieu Vu in a black suit performing a song he performed on this stage on PBN 93 and the title of his soon-to-be-released CD “Em O Dau?.” Trinh Lam, Quynh Vi, and Duong Trieu Vu now perform a small segment of “Tai Sao?” together.

Stepping out from stage left in a beautiful purple ensemble, we hear Minh Tuyet’s heart wrenching version of “Ngay Xua Anh Hoi” which she performed on PBN’s 20th Anniversary (PBN 71). Coming down the center stairs in a blue floral shirt and shorts is Luu Bich performing “Dang Cay” which she performed on PBN 75. Rounding out this group is Nhu Loan in a magnificent silver dress performing “Men Say Tinh Ai” her very first solo on PBN 63 which was also on this very stage. The 3 girls, Nhu Loan, Luu Bich, and Minh Tuyet now perform another segment of “Men Say Tinh Ai”

Don Ho now emerges in “Tinh Nhat Phai” or “Caravan of Life” which he performed in PBN 29. At that time, this performance was considered one of the most artistic and creative performances ever on a Vietnamese music video. The audience reaction when they saw Nguyen Hung with a mustache was just priceless as he performed “Lam” a song he first performed on PBN 28. Everyone was pointing up at the screen and laughing at the vast difference between then and now. The Son, dressed in a white suit, comes down center stage performing “Tro Ve Cat Bui” which was performed on PBN 38. The 3 guys now are on stage singing “Tro Ve Cat Bui”. For many years, these 3 gentlemen dominated the stage. It was nice to see them standing together once again and it brought back memories of PBN 54.

All 12 singers reenter the stage and perform “Yeu” the closing song and theme to PBN 65. This was such a fun and sentimental medley. It allowed the audience to revisit the songs that brought these singers to them and songs that in many ways brought fame to these singers. I loved how each singer got a hand of applause when they stepped onto the stage to perform their song. When you’re sitting in a room with over 2000 people, that kind of energy is just so fun and that is main difference when watching a live show versus on DVD.

16. Nhac Kich "Di Tim Nua Vang Trang"
- Bao Han, Duong Trieu Vu
Ok ladies and gentlemen, please get your tissues ready. This musical is based on two new songs “Tien Anh Ve Voi Nguoi” (Tung Chau, Thai Thinh) and “Tinh La Gi?” (Thai Thinh). This is a sequel to the popular performance last year of “Cau Chuyen Tinh Toi & Nua Vang Trang.” As the song begins, Bao Han holds her umbrella and both sing of the disparities of love. Then we see a flash back on the screen. The girl who blinded Bao Han has had Duong Trieu Vu captured. They then drug him thereby making him hallucinate and he thinks he is with Bao Han. In actuality, in this state of confusion, the villain takes “advantage” of Duong Trieu Vu. At the time in history where this story took place it was considered highly disloyal and dishonorable for a male and female to have that kind of relations, even though it was his fault. The built-up guilt within him would eventual pull them apart. Oh they were both so wonderful in this performance. The singing, the dancing, the acting. They poured in all hearts and soul to this performance. I think it is the highest compliment to them in that for 7 minutes on stage we forgot that we were watching Bao Han and Duong Trieu Vu but rather the audience became emerged into the story, it was as if we were watching a movie. Towards the end of the song, tears swelled up in Bao Han’s eyes, and Duong Trieu Vu’s eyes, and in the eyes of the audience. Watch at the end that the 2 lanterns representing their love for one another would be distinguished forever.
